Jason Hink is a film and video producer who founded Douglas County Sports Online, a regional sports website in Oregon. Hink Media is the umbrella title for his production company, which includes television commercial production, event videography and entertainment.
Jason began his media career in September 1995 in Coos Bay, Oregon, as a disc jockey for KYTT-FM (K-Light) while a student at Southwestern Oregon Community College. He received a baseball scholarship to play at SWOCC and he disc jockeyed weekend music at KYTT on the weekends. He also served as a fill-in host and DJ for the station's weekly programming.
KYTT is part of the Lighthouse Radio Group, a three-station company where he broadcast high school baseball for the Marshfield Pirates on AM-1420 KRSR. He also did voiceover work and produced radio commercials and PSAs.
In June 1997, Jason left Coos Bay and moved to Roseburg to work part time as a DJ for Brooke Communications, disc jockeying on two FM stations, Best Country 103 (KRSB) and KKMX-FM (then known as Kiss-FM). He later did more baseball on B.C.I.'s AM station, KQEN, serving as color commentator and fill-in play-by-play man for Roseburg's Dr. Stewart's American Legion Baseball team.
During the summer of 1999, Jason enjoyed a short stint filling in for Douglas County's daily newspaper, The News-Review. He covered the Dr. Stewart's State Tuornament run in Eugene, landing him several front-page articles in the sports section. Jason was asked to come back that fall to preview high school football teams for the News-Review.
Using this experience, Jason made the leap to television in June 2000, where he was hired as a reporter and director at KPIC in Roseburg. Over a span of eight years he directed, produced and anchored local news and sports. He enjoyed stints as the noon news anchor in 2001 and the 11PM late news anchor for eight months in 2002. In 2007 he spent six months in sales and marketing and five months in commercial production. He left the station in July 2008 to pursue his production company full time and to launch his sports website.
On August 25, 2008, Jason launched DouglasCountySportsOnline.com, a regional sports website that brings together all his previous experience in traditional media. The site features video, live internet radio broadcasts, photos, written features, and a comprehensive listing of area schools, sports schedules and conference standings.
JasonHink.com is Jason's official website.
