Roseburg Babe Ruthers Finish World Series Trip

Roseburg's 14-year old all-stars dropped their third straight one-run game in the Babe Ruth World Series Wednesday afternoon. The Pacific Northwest Regional champions took a 1-0 lead over Nash County, North Carolina, in the 5th inning Wednesday.

But Nash scored two in the bottom of the 6th and they go on to win 2-1 in the final game of pool play for both teams. Roseburg scored its only run on a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Vince Ampi in the top of the 5th, and it looked like that might be all Brandon Jackson needed.

But in the bottom of the 6th, Nash came up with five hits and a pair of runs to take the lead for the first time. Roseburg dropped to 1-3 in the pool play, while Nash County improved to 3-1.

This was the first time ever that Roseburg sent a Babe Ruth team to the World Series. THe scores from the four games are posted below.

Roseburg Scores
August 23 Nash County (North Carolina) 2, Roseburg (Oregon) 1
August 22 Shelton (Connecticut) 4, Roseburg (Oregon) 3
August 21 Youngstown (Ohio) 9, Roseburg (Oregon) 8
August 20 Roseburg (Oregon) 5, Meridian (Mississippi) 2

You did a great job guys... As you can see all of the games were really close and could have gone either way. Don't let anyone take from you the fact that you are a great bunch of guys and you truly love the game of baseball!!! You keep improving each and every year...Just think next year you could win it all!
